Flood lights are high intensity broad beam lights used in public places, street, roundabouts and highways. The main aim of flood lights is to provide clear light to improve visibility. Generally there are five types of flood lights commonly used depending on the place to be covered under the light.

Halogen flood lights are produced when electricity activates the halogen gas and tungsten inside the bulb. This flood light is in white color and is considered better than other flood lights by many people. Halogen lights sometimes heats up more than necessary and can be less energy efficient than other flood light types.

High intensity discharge is created by producing the internal arc inside the bulb. This type of lighting is durable and offer higher efficiency rating. But they take time to produce the light after being turn on.
